Ronna Terrell Bailey
Ronna Terrell Bailey of Longmont, Colo., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 at Hospice of Boulder County at the age of 44. She was born on June 18, 1958 to Dennis Ronald "Ron" and Mary Louise (King) Terrell in Holdenville. Ronna’s parents lived in Sasakwa from 1958-1960. Ronna’s father Ron served as Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sasakwa. Ronna attended school in Ft. Collins, Colo., before she moved to Richardson, Texas. She received two bachelor’s degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.
In 1970, Ronna’s mother married Roger Bailey. Two years later, he adopted Ronna and her sister Angie.
Ronna taught high school French, German, and Spanish in Meeker for five years before moving to Boulder in 1986. She was a secretary and technical typesetter at the National Center for Atmospheric Research before becoming a mail carrier in Boulder. Ronna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Boulder and was active in the choir and the "Bridges" group. She was also a member of the University of Colorado Alumni Handbell Choir. Ronna enjoyed counted cross-stitch, music, genealogy, travel, and visiting the highest point in as many states as possible. She had a deep faith in Jesus Christ.
Ronna was first diagnosed with cancer in 2001, but her cancer went into remission. In Sept. 2002, her cancer returned, and she was given a short time to live. Ronna attended a memorial/celebration-of-life service for herself on Nov. 1, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church in Boulder. She was preceded in death by three grandparents, Rev. William and Agnes King, Tonkawa, and Grady Terrell, Wewoka.
Ronna is survived by her parents, Mary and Roger Bailey, Longmont, Colo., and Ron and Bobbie Terrell, Warsaw, Mo.; three sisters, Angelique Malezieux and her husband Gilles, Paris, France, Nancy Ruth Bailey, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Holly Bailey, Greeley, Colo.; her grandmother, Beatrice Terrell Harjo, Wewoka; two uncles, Raymond Terrell, Kansas City, and Kenneth Terrell, Seminole; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation was held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont, Colo. Inurnment was held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Tonkawa. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Boulder County, 2130 Mountain View Ave., Suite A, Longmont, Colo., 80501.
