Lester K. Scholl died June 6 following a short illness.
Born November 27, 1918 in Fairfax, SD to Theodore G. Scholl and Olga Lindgren,
he was raised in Gregory, SD by his Uncle George and Aunt Edith Scholl.
Graduated Gregory High School and South Dakota School of Mines.
Moved to Utah in 1940 to work for U.S. Smelting, Refining and Mining. Married
Bernice Chaffin in 1945, later divorced.
Survived by sister, Naomi Broida; best friend, Bernice; children and spouses,
Leslie (John); Sue (Paul); Linda; Laura; Barry (Tifani); four grandchildren; one
great-grandchild. Preceded in death by daughter, Brenda Lee; sister, Inez
VandenBosch.
Scholl was a Master Mason from Twin Peaks Lodge #32. He was an active member of
the American Institute of Mining Engineers, South Dakota School of Mines Alumni
Association, and the American Airplane Owners and Pilots Association. Hobbies
included rockhoun-ding, geology, aviation, fishing and sports.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2000 at 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn
Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Dr. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8
p.m. and Saturday 10:45-11:45 a.m., prior to services, at the mortuary.
Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
