Ruth Ann Paulson , was born 25 Sept 1930 near Platte, Charles Mix, SD.  She died 26 April 2010 in Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, SD, and was buried 30 April 2010 in West Trinity Cemetery, Platte, Charles Mix, SD. Find A Grave Memorial# 58246484.  She married Gordon Carter.

Obituary for Ruth Ann (Paulson) Carter:

Ruth Ann Carter, 79, of Chamberlin SD passed away Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in Platte, SD. A Committal Service will follow at West Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Platte. A Visitation will be held at the Mount Funeral Home in Platte from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 29, 2010 with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruth’s honor may be directed to: The Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.

Ruth Ann (Paulson) Carter was born to parents, Jonas and Amber (Fatheringham) Paulson on September 25, 1930 in Platte, South Dakota. Ruth attended country school through the 8th grade and then went on to attend high school in Fergus Falls, Minnesota at the Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.

She united in marriage to Gordon Carter on May 9, 1949 in Havre, Montana. Together they farmed in Turner until 1957 when they relocated their family to western Montana near Flathead Lake. They returned to Turner in 1963 when they purchased a farm around the Weme area near Clearbrook, Minnesota, in 1968. In early 1993 they purchased a mobile home park in Chadron, Nebraska. They operated the mobile home park until 1994 when they sold it and moved to Chamberlin, South Dakota. For a short time they ran the Curve Motel in Buffalo, Oklahoma and then sold it, returning to Chamberlin to retire.

Ruth enjoyed visiting and serving coffee while telling her many humorous stories to all who sat at her kitchen table. She had many interests and talents: she loved to bake, sew, garden and then can all of the produce that she raised. She also enjoyed tole painting and painting her scenery pictures on old saw blades. She loved taking pictures and always had her camera with her.

Grateful for having shared in Ruth’s life: her husband, Gordon Carter of Chamberlain, SD; their three children: Eleanor Daniel and husband Craig of Cortez, CO, Terry Carter and wife Molly of Clearbrook, MN, Lisa Kerner and husband Leon of Gregory, SD; a daughter-in-law, Jean Carter of Bagley, MN; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters: Jean Thompson and husband Ray and Faith Van Zee and husband Gene all of Platte, SD; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her son, Larry; a sister, Marion Jorgensen and her parents, Jonas and Amber Paulson.
