Elmer Jennings Tishendorf was born 03 April 1897 at Colon, Saunders Co., NE.  He died in December 1983 at Creighton, Knox, NE, and is buried with his wife in Greenwood Cemetery, Creighton, Knox NE. (Find A Grave Memorial# 84336802)

Elmer married Clara E. Bengston  on 22 Apr 1920 in Wakefield Addition, Wayne County, Nebraska.  She was born 22 December 1897 at Axtell, Kearney, NE, to Carl J. Bengston and Eda Josephine Anderson.  She died 18 October 1981 at Creighton, Knox, NE. (Find A Grave Memorial# 84336963)

Elmer's WWI draft registration card from 1918 describes him as being medium in height, slender in build, with gray eyes and brown hair. He was still living with his parents, working on the farm in Ware Township., Boyd Co., NE. during the 1920 Census. In 1923, Elmer and Clara were listed as members in Trinity Lutheran Church, Anoka, Boyd, NE.  the 1930 Census found him still in Ware Township, Boyd Co., NE, farming.  The family were also boarding a school teacher, Helen Fritz, age 17.  The 1940 Census found him in Niobrara, Knox, NE, working as a carpenter for the insurance business.

They had  6 children:

1.  Mavis Eleanor Tishendorf, b: 02 Nov 1921 near Anoka, Boyd, NE, d: 10 Dec 2014 at Fremont, Dodge, NE, buried: Memorial Cemetery, Fremont, Dodge, NE, Find A Grave # 139859495.  She married on 23 Dec 1940 in Niobrara, Knox, NE, to Albert R. Heidemann (b: 13 Jul 1917, d: 04 Apr 2000 in Fremont, Dodge, NE, buried Memorial Cemetery, Fremont, Dodge, NE. Find A Grave Memorial# 41401327 ), son of Gustav and Mary (Kehne) Heidemann.

Mavis and Albert had a daughter:

        1.  Linda Heidemann.  Linda had a son:

                1.  Karl J. Heidemann, b: 26 Nov 1971 at Fremont, Dodge, NE, d: 29 Nov 2012 at Columbus, Platte, NE.  Karl was married on 23 Apr 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbus, Platte, Nebraska, USA, to Sheri Christensen, daughter of Kendall & Linda Christensen. on 23 Apr 2005.  They had 2 children:

                        1.  Kendall Heidemann

                        2.  Parker Heidemann

 

2.  Amy June 'Jennie' Tishendorf, born 02 Jun 1923, Anoka, Boyd, NE, died 30 Aug 2010, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center, Salem, Roanoake, VA after a brief illness.  In 1951 she married Ernst Guenter Skole  (born 05 Jun 1924 in Berlin, Germany,  Imm: 18 Nov 1948, d: 14 Nov 1996 in Fairfax, Fairfax, VA), son of Hermann & Marie Skole.

Their children are:

       1.  Karen Skole, married Mr. Hoepner

       2.  Deborah Skole, married James Rakestraw

       3.  Rev. Karl David Skole, married Diane

SKOLE JUNE T. SKOLE (Age 87) Passed away peacefully August 30, 2010, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center, Salem, VA after a brief illness. She was born Amy June Tishendorf on June 2, 1923 in Anoka, Nebraska to Elmer J. and Clara Bengtson Tishendorf. She grew up in Niobrara, Nebraska and moved to Washington, DC at the age of 19. She attended Strayer Business School and upon graduation embarked upon a career as a secretary par excellence. Working in the Pentagon while it was under construction, her employers included the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She later moved to Capitol Hill to work for former U.S. Senator Hugh Butler, and the former U.S. Congressmen Ralph Beerman and Dave Martin. She ended her professional career at age 67, spending the last 15 years with the Washington law firm of Steptoe and Johnson. In 1951, she married E. Guenter Skole of Berlin, Germany. Together they raised three children and lived in DC, Winchester, VA and McLean, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996. In 2007, she moved to Roanoke, VA . June was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, McLean,VA. Volunteering for everything from President of Church Council to sewing quilts and providing meals for the homeless, her involvement with her church took her from helping organize a co-op for sharecroppers in Halifax, VA to touring the palaces of St. Petersburg, Russia. Mrs. Skole is survived by two daughters, Karen Skole of Morro Bay, CA and Deborah Rakestraw of Fredericksburg, VA; a son, Rev. K. David Skole of Roanoke, VA; their spouses, James Rakestraw, and Diane Skole; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mavis Heidemann of Fremont, NE, Gwenn Holmlund of McLean, VA, and Mary Burdick of Lenexa, KS; two brothers, Robert Tishendorf of Sidney, NE and David Tishendorf of Tieton, WA; seven nieces and 14 nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 4 at 3 p.m, at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1545 Chain Bridge Rd,, McLean, VA with the Rev. Dr. Robert Driver-Bishop officiating. In June''s memory, contributions can be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 2011 Brandon Ave., Roanoke, VA 24015.
