Arthur Edward Lindgren was born on 01 February 1883 in NE, and died 15 November 1948 on his farm near Baker, Boyd, NE.  He is buried in Highland Cemetery, Fairfax, Gregory, SD, Find A Grave Memorial# 64933266.  This farm was homesteaded in a location called the Three Mile Strip.  At that time, the line between Nebraska and Dakota Territories was marked by the beds of the Keya Paha, Ponca, and Niobrara rivers.  They frequently changed course, and a farmer could easily find at least some of his property was on the far side of the river, in a different state/territory, after a flood.  When the Nebraska/South Dakota state line was officially surveyed and marked, this farm was discovered to straddle the state line, with part in SD, and part in NE.

On 03 March 1913, he married: Winnifred Mae Northrup, born 30 September 1893 in Nebraska, and died 29 January 1969, buried:  Highland Cemetery, Fairfax, Gregory, SD. Find A Grave Memorial# 64933348.  Winnifred's parents were James William Northrup and Emily Della Johnson

In 1918, his draft registration card describes him as being medium in height and build, with blue eyes and dark brown hair.  His postal address at that time, was RFD #1, Fairfax, SD.  His children and grandchildren attended school at Fairfax until the early 1960's, when laws were rewritten so that children had to attend school in the state in which the family residence was located.  Which was just barely south of the  Nebraska/South Dakota state line.

The children of Arthur and Winnie were:
