Verald Atlee Schubert was born on February 6, 1924 in Academy, SD to Walter Atlee and Sylvia (Green) Schubert. He graduated from Platte High School in 1942. On December 7, 1949, he was united in marriage to Nora Boyden and to this union two children were born, Judy and Jerald. Verald farmed and raised livestock west of Platte, SD until 1983, when he sold his farm and moved to Fountain Hills, AZ. He later moved to Mesa, AZ where he met and married Sylvia Lieske. Together they enjoyed traveling and his favorite past-time, dancing. Verald also had a home in Show Low, AZ where he loved to spend time. Grateful for having shared in Verald’s life: his wife, Sylvia Schubert of Mesa, AZ; daughter, Judy (Pat) Schulte and son, Jerald (LeAnn) Schubert all of Rapid City, SD; four grandchildren: Nikki (Shawn) Wendt, Allen Schulte, Kimberly (Shawn) Wenko and Jeremy (Elizabeth) Schubert; six great-grandchildren: Sydney and Ramsey Wendt, Landon Schulte, Brooklyn Wenko, Jonah and Ezra Schubert; and a sister, Florence Rasmussen of Northridge, CA. Verald was preceded in death by his parents.
